This sample adds a simple animation to a logo that's already on the presentation's slide master. To see the results, download championzone-after.ppt (332 KB PowerPoint file, 3 min @ 28.8 Kbps) and open it in PowerPoint. Or download the original file championzone-before.ppt (193 KB PowerPoint file, 3 min @ 28.8 Kbps), and follow these steps to animate it yourself:
1.
Open
the championzone-before.ppt file in PowerPoint 2002.
2.
View
slide 1 in the PowerPoint editor.
3.
On
the View menu, point to Master and then click Slide Master.
4.
Click
the soccer ball by the Championzone logo at the top
right.
5.
On
the Slide Show menu, click Custom Animation. (The Custom
Animation task pane will open up in the right column.)
6.
On
the Custom Animation task pane, click Add Effect, point to Entrance,
and then click Fade. You should see a preview of the animation. (If Fade
does not appear on the list, click More Effects instead. Then in the Add
Entrance Effect dialog box, click Fade and then click OK.)
7.
Now
click on the Championzone logo on the slide.
8.
On
the Custom Animation task pane, click the Add Effect button, point to Entrance,
and click More Effects. Then select the Light Speed effect in the
Excitement section of the effects list. Then click OK.
9.
Then
click the Direction button on the task pane, and select From Left.
10.
Select
both effects just added and click the drop-down arrow at the right of the last
effect selected, and select Start With Previous
from the drop-down menu. (This makes the animations occur simultaneously.)
11.
Click
the drop-down arrow again, and select Show Advanced Timeline. (This
changes the view to show the timeline bars for the effects added.)
12.
Then
click the Speed drop-down menu and select Fast.
13.
Click
the soccer ball on the slide.
14.
On
the Custom Animation task pane, click the Add Effect button, point to Motion
Paths, and then click on Left. (This adds a leftward motion path to
the ball)
15.
Click
the motion path—a line with a green arrow at one end and a red arrow at the
other end.
16.
Place
your pointer over the path's red end until your pointer changes to a diagonal
resize arrow. Then, hold down the SHIFT key, click the end, and drag it to the
left until it is off the screen.
17.
On
the Custom Animation task pane, click the drop-down arrow next to the motion
path effect you just added on the soccer ball and select Timing.
18.
Click
on the Start drop-down menu, and select After
previous.
19.
In
the Speed edit box, and type 0.7.
20.
Next,
click the Effect tab at the top of the dialog box.
21.
Clear
the Smooth start check box and click OK. (This makes the soccer
ball start at full speed rather than accelerate up to full speed at the start
of the motion path.)
Try it for yourself:
1.
Open
the championzone-before.ppt
file (193 KB PowerPoint file, 3 min @ 28.8 Kbps), or if you've done the first
example continue working with that file.
2.
On
the View menu, point to Master and then click Slide Master.
3.
Make
sure the Custom Animation task pane is visible by clicking Custom Animation
on the Slide Show menu.
4.
Select
the first master shown in the thumbnails at the left. (It's the one with a lot
of white space.)
5.
Click
anywhere inside the bulleted text container. (The first line of text reads
"Click to edit master text styles".)
6.
On
the Custom Animation task pane, click the Add Effect button, point to Emphasis,
and then click on Change Font Color. (If Change Font Color does not
appear on the list, click More Effects instead. Then in the Add
Emphasis Effect dialog box, click Change Font Color and then click OK.)
7.
Click
the Font Color drop-down menu, and select the black color tile.
8.
Then

9. Open the
championzone-beforesound.ppt file in PowerPoint.

and then click Slide Master.
11. Make sure the Custom Animation task
pane is visible by clicking Custom Animation on the Slide Show
menu.
12. Double-click the motion path—a line
with a green arrow at one end and a red arrow at the other end. (This will open
an effect options dialog box.)
13. Click the Sound drop-down
menu, and select deepclick.wav, which is a custom
sound that's already inserted on the slide. Or you can choose any other
appropriate sound, such as Whoosh. If you have even better sounds of
your own, select Other Sound browse your hard drive for .wav files.
